CARE INFO

Stitch by stitch and row by row – that’s how SALANIDA knits are born to life. We carefully select the highest quality natural yarns from which knitted products are super soft, featherweight, hypoallergenic and itch free.

We believe sustainability comes first in caring for the things we already own. We always say that wool is just like our own hair - it needs to be daily combed, washed with quality shampoos, and shaped with heat. Very similar rules apply when caring for your woolen products. Take good care of your sweater so it takes good care back of you.

Before washing

CHECK CARE LABELS. Always check the inside care label for specific instructions as it varies for different styles and yarn compositions.

LET IT BREATH. To extend the life of your knitted garment, we recommend to wash it less frequently and air it put after use. Hang your knitwear in open space or fresh air - it refreshes the clothes and reduces unpleasant odors.

REMOVE ODOURS. If you feel like you miss the smell of freshly washed clothes, you can use a refreshing spray. It removes unpleasant smells and refreshes your clothes.

SPOT CLEANING. Clothes are often destroyed due to over-washing as each time the fibers weakens this is why we recommend to remove the stain as soon as possible.

STEAM AND IRON. It is often enough to shape your knitwear to it's initial position using a steamer or iron. For example, stretched knees in knitted pants can easily return to their original form during steaming and ironing. Allow the garment to fully dry and completely cool down before wearing it again. The steam also reducing bacteria.

REMOVE PILLING. Natural yarns are sometimes prone to pilling. It is not a fault of a garment and can be easily resolved by using a pill-removing device or a wool comb.

KNOW YOUR WASHING MACHINE. It would be such a shame to have your favorite knits ruined by a harsh washing cycle, so it is important that you know your washing machine well.

STORING. It is best to store knitted garments folded so they stay in shape.

Merino Wool

  • Recommended to wash by hand or on a gentle machine cycle at max 30°C/86°F
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Iron medium temperature, steam or dry
  • Dry clean

To properly care for your merino wool knits and ensure their longevity, gentle washing is key. Begin by turning your garments inside out to protect the outer surface. We recommend to wash merino wool by hand or on a gentle wool program in the washing machine at up to 30°C on 600-800 RPM. Choose a delicate, cold water cycle and place the knit in a mesh laundry bag for added protection.

For hand washing: fill a basin with cool water and add a mild, wool-friendly detergent, submerging your knitwear and gently swishing it in the water to avoid stretching. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, as this can cause deformation. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all soap is removed.

To dry, gently squeeze out excess water, then lay the garment flat on a towel, reshaping it to its original form. Allow it to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.

Dry cleaning is recommended for knitted merino jackets.

Mohair wool

  • Recommended to dry clean or gentle hand wash at max 30°C/86°F
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Iron low temperature, steam or dry
  • Dry clean
  • Dry Flat

Caring for delicate mohair wool knits requires a gentle touch to preserve their softness and unique texture. To keep your mohair knits beautiful and long-lasting, we recommend to air the garment regularly and give it time to rest. Wash the product only when necessary. Dry cleaning is recommended for stain removal.

For hand washing: fill a basin with cool water and add a mild, wool-friendly detergent. Avoid using fabric softener or soaking your mohair garment. Wash gently without stretching or agitating the fabric excessively, as mohair can be quite delicate. Rinse thoroughly in cool water to remove all soap, being careful to maintain the garment's shape. Avoid wringing or twisting, as this can cause deformation. Wrap the product carefully in a towel and press out all excess water. Reshape it carefully to its original dimensions while moist, avoiding any stretching. Let it air dry on a flat surface away from direct heat and sunlight.

You can carefully steam the surface with a low temperature but avoid touching the product directly with an iron. To maintain the fluffy surface, you can lightly brush the surface with a clothes brush. Lay the garment on a flat surface and brush gently with long, parallel strokes. This regenerates the softness and lightness of the wool. If pilling occurs, you can carefully remove it by hand. Proper care of mohair knits will keep them looking luxurious and fluffy for years to come.
